About

About Mushy PsyNoir

Mushy PsyNoir is a dark idol horror project created and led by Mushy. It spans five pillars that share a single continuity. Music, released to Spotify and all major streaming platforms. A film. A novel, Into Da Rememba. A role-playing game, also titled Into Da Rememba. And a set of interactive web experiences built as browser-native worlds rather than promotional pages.

The novel and the game carry the same title deliberately. They are separate works. One is read and one is played, and they are two ways into the same place.

The sound collides cute idol pop against consuming horror, and the visual world is biological rather than mechanical. Wet skin, spores, gills, amethyst beaded regalia, black water. Its recurring goddess figure is identified by two glowing purple-pink mushroom caps with visible gills. They are not ears. She appears alongside a scale horror motif, in which tiny colour-coded idol figures are dwarfed by what is looking back at them.

The project is female dominant and sensual. The cast is almost entirely women, though not entirely. Desire in the work runs toward both men and women.

The project draws on Japanese gothic idol horror, Sumerian myth, and cinematic reframe storytelling in the tradition of Perfect Blue, in which what the audience believed it was watching is revealed to have been something else entirely.

Personnel

Members of Mushy PsyNoir

19 members. 5 revealed.

The remaining fourteen members have not been revealed. They are not placeholders. Members are revealed as the story requires them.

Canon

The World of Mushy PsyNoir

Da Neva. The water beneath everything. To drop into da Neva is to go under, and the phrase carries both meanings at once, which is the point.

Da Rememba. What is kept when a person is taken apart. The novel, Into Da Rememba, follows a descent through it.

Da Broadcast. The project presents itself as a hijacked signal. The web experiences are built as channels rather than pages, and something interferes with them.

Da Daurk. Not the absence of light. The thing that is using it.

The world is written in Neva dialect, a constructed vernacular that stays close to plain speech at the surface and thickens the further down a character goes.

Story

Into Da Rememba

Into Da Rememba (novel). Book One of the Mushy PsyNoir story. A descent told in Neva dialect, which stays close to plain speech at the surface and thickens the further down it goes.

Into Da Rememba (role-playing game). A game set in the same continuity as the novel and carrying the same title on purpose. Separate work, same descent.

Interactive web experiences. Mushy PsyNoir builds playable worlds in the browser rather than promotional pages. Released so far, Signal War and Seven Gates, alongside the broadcast experience at mushypsynoir.com.
